Despite being named 'Herring Staff', the actual minion spawned by the staff doesn't quite look like a herring, since herrings have a distinctive reflecting silver-like color, while the minion's color is dark blue.This weapon can also be obtained from the Sulphurous Crate after either The Slime God or Wall of Flesh have been defeated.The only lasting advantage a Mythical Herring Staff has over a Ruthless one is knockback. Additionally, minions cannot deal critical hits. Toggle the complete HUD to eliminate annoying elements and maximize immersion. The Mythical modifier provides the widest array of stat bonuses, but these primarily affect the initial summon rather than the resulting minion. Unlike most minions, the Herrings only take up half a minion slot, allowing the player to summon twice as many Herrings as one-slot minions. It summons three Herrings which charge at enemies in order to attack them. The Herring Staff is a Pre-Hardmode summon weapon that is found in the Ancient Treasure Chests in the Abyss.
